Vegan Holiday Baked Pear
We all know that the holiday times are here and with that comes calorie dense food and not so much nutrient dense. Luckily there are some delicious alternatives to those fattening dishes that come with the holiday season. This holiday baked pear is a clean and healthy choice for this holiday season.
The key to this dessert is to make sure your pear is ripe. Here are some characteristics of a ripe pear:
- Appearance: Golden yellow with brownish skin tones/brown (depending on variety but never green). Quite old and almost
“beaten up” looking
- Feel: Soft, teeth sink into skin EASILY, no crunch, flesh almost melts in mouth.
- Smell: Beautiful sweet aroma, that’s almost intoxicating
- Taste: Yummy! Very sweet, shouldn’t be powdery
(The picture on the right is what ripe pears will look like)
This is a great alternative to apple and pumpkin pie. It has all the flavor you want for a fraction of the calories.
