Homemade Unsweetened Apple Butter

It’s very difficult to find apple butter at the store, let alone finding homemade unsweetened apple butter without added sugars or sweeteners. So the best solution is to quite simply make your own. Thanks to crock-pots, this recipe is an absolute breeze. Apple butter gets its name not because it actually has butter in it, but because the apples reduce down to a buttery-like texture. Though the recipe takes a very long time to make, it is completely worth the time you put into making it. Next to the taste of apple butter, the aroma that fills your house will make it smell like Thanksgiving. Also, most apple butter recipes tell you to peel the apples, but the skin is where you’ll find a lot of fiber and vitamins. The skin also adds significant flavor to the apple butter and wouldn’t taste nearly as good without it.
You can put this homemade unsweetened apple butter on top of some healthy pancakes, on a sandwich with almond butter, or deliciously snacked on by itself.
Enjoy!
