Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites with Fried Rice
It always seems like there are never enough hours in the day. I am a full-time Speech-Pathologist at an elementary school and my hours extend far past the time that school ends. I’m lucky if I can get home and get in a quick dinner before preparing for the next day. Likewise, my husband is a Sales Representative, and he doesn’t usually get home in time to cook either. Along with both of our full time jobs, we blog about healthy meals because it is this food that allows us to stay healthy, and it’s something we both enjoy! But because of our busy schedules, we don’t always have a lot of time to cook even though we like to fuel our bodies. That is exactly why I enjoy cooking with, and eating, Gardein products and specifically, Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites! #OMGardein is an extremely convenient way to eat delicious, meat-free meals that give us the nutrients we want and need to keep us going.
Did you know that Gardein is better for your body than many other foods? I love knowing exactly what is in my food because that tells me how healthy it is for me. Made with non-GMO soy and wheat, ancient grains, and veggies, Gardein provides the taste, texture, and protein content of meat with less fat, less calories and no cholesterol. Gardein is also vegan, kosher, and each product has specific benefits (see product specifications). Reducing your meat intake just 1 day a week can have a considerable impact on your health. It increases life expectancy while reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer, obesity and diabetes. Who knew that #OMGardein was so healthy AND delicious all at the same time?! I continue to be impressed by the different products from Gardein!
But wait, it gets better! Did you know that Gardein is also better for the planet? The meat industry produces more greenhouse gases than the entire transportation sector combined. Small steps count and Meatless Mondays are a great way to start! In fact, if every American ate meatless just 1 day per week all year, it would be the equivalent of taking ½ million cars off the road. Can you believe it? It takes the same amount of water to produce a burger as it does to shower for 6 months! 1,799 gallons of water are needed to produce just 1 lb of beef. Conversely, it only takes 52.8 gallons to produce 1 lb of Gardein. (source: Water Foot Print Research Methodology for beef usage).
