Baked Kale Chips


Kale was an unpopular vegetable a few years ago, but today, this superfood seems to be taking the world by storm. Also referred to as the “Queen of Greens,” kale is everywhere from backyard gardens, to local grocery store, and even appearing as an ingredient in various recipes. It’s no surprise that it’s popularity is rising given its combination of health benefits and great taste.

There are lots of benefits to adding kale to your diet or throwing it in a recipe or two. It’s high in Vitamin A and C, making it good for your vision, skin, metabolism, and immune system. You might not believe this, but kale actually has more calcium per calorie than milk giving your bones the extra boost they need to stay strong. We won’t forget to mention that kale has no fat, limited calories, and enough fiber, iron, and other nutrients and vitamins that will be sure to keep you healthy.

There are so many recipes that you can make using kale. Simply substitute it for lettuce, spinach, or similar greens in a sandwich, make a kale salad, throw it in pasta, saute it on its own, or whip up your own creative kale recipe. Today, we’re going to have a little fun and bake it into Kale Chips! It may look like you are making a ton of kale, but it shrinks down when it cooks, similar to spinach.

After they cool off, you can pick them up individually and eat by hand like a chip! This Baked Kale Chips recipe will be a hit at your family table and will even impress at a dinner party. Not only is this superfood healthy for you, but as you can see, it’s perfect as an alternative to potato chips. Consider using Kale in your next recipe as a simple substitute for lettuce, spinach, or any green.



1/2 bunch of kale

1/2 lemon juiced

1 Tbsp agave nectar

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp salt

1/8 tsp pepper



Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.


Peel off the kale leaves from the stem and rip the leaves into small pieces. Put the pieces in a small bowl.


In the bowl, mix the lemon juice, agave, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.


Pour the mixture over the kale and mix thoroughly with your hands.


Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the kale on top.


Bake for 20 minutes at 250 degrees or until the outside of the kale is crispy.
