toothache-remedy Dealing with a toothache can be difficult. From the often extreme pain of a sore tooth to the innumerable ‘home remedies’ that don’t seem to help at all, getting rid of a sore tooth isn’t an easy process. However, there are a few toothache remedies and tactics that can weaken, or even completely remove, the pain of a serious toothache.

Toothache Remedy #1

aspirin toothache remedyOne of the easiest ways to get rid of a toothache is to use a simple painkiller like Aspirin or Paracetamol. These generic painkillers are available as over-the-counter medicine at most pharmacies and supermarkets and serve as a quick and easy toothache remedy. Take only the recommended dose and give it some time to reduce the pain — most painkillers take anywhere from 10 – 30 minutes to take effect.

While painkiller medications will reduce the soreness of a toothache, they won’t help it go away for the long term. One of the best ways to reduce the soreness of a toothache is to use an antibacterial solution to kill the bacteria that are hurting your tooth. Most mouthwashes designed to improve your breath will also kill off the bacteria that are making your teeth hurt.

Toothache Remedy #3

Garlic has antibacterial qualities that are perfect for reducing the bacteria that can contribute to toothaches and more serious oral infections. By chewing garlic or making a garlic solution in water, you can fight a toothache.

Toothache Remedy #4

A simple ice pack or cold sports relief pack can be ideal for reducing the pain and swelling of a severe toothache. If you have inflamed and swollen tissue in your mouth, apply a cool pack to the side of your face to reduce swelling and numb the area. This will reduce pain and prevent your mouth from being further agitated by the tooth itself.

Toothache Remedy #5

Finally, sealing the tooth using a clear solution or wax can prevent food and liquid from irritating the tooth and worsening the toothache. While this isn’t a long-term solution to the problem, it can help with the unbearable pain that can come from some toothaches.

Toothache Remedy #6

If you have recurring pain in one or several of your teeth, seek the assistance of an experienced dentist. It’s much better to fix a dental problem when it’s in its infancy, and there’s nothing bad about getting help immediately. Actually, visiting your local dentist is probably the best thing you can do, and if you can’t get an appointment right away, just ask the doctor what he would do in your shoes. Visiting the dentist is often the best choice because they could find something else wrong with your mouth. What if you ate too much Halloween candy and your toothache is simply a cavity that needs fixing? But remember, the best way to combat cavities, toothaches and prevent major dental surgery down the road is to brush and floss your teeth on a regular basis.

This article was inspired by Patrick Crawford DDS. If you have a toothache, Patrick Crawford DDS can take you out of pain in one appointment. He is the best dentist in Kenosha, WI, and has been practicing dentistry for over 20 years.
