Discover the delicious and convenient way to eat meat-free. Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites are better for your body and better for the planet!

It always seems like there are never enough hours in the day. I am a full-time Speech-Pathologist at an elementary school and my hours extend far past the time that school ends. I’m lucky if I can get home and get in a quick dinner before preparing for the next day. Likewise, my husband is a Sales Representative, and he doesn’t usually get home in time to cook either. Along with both of our full time jobs, we blog about healthy meals because it is this food that allows us to stay healthy, and it’s something we both enjoy! But because of our busy schedules, we don’t always have a lot of time to cook even though we like to fuel our bodies. That is exactly why I enjoy cooking with, and eating, Gardein products and specifically, Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites! #OMGardein is an extremely convenient way to eat delicious, meat-free meals that give us the nutrients we want and need to keep us going. Gardein

Did you know that Gardein is better for your body than many other foods? I love knowing exactly what is in my food because that tells me how healthy it is for me. Made with non-GMO soy and wheat, ancient grains, and veggies, Gardein provides the taste, texture, and protein content of meat with less fat, less calories and no cholesterol. Gardein is also vegan, kosher, and each product has specific benefits (see product specifications). Reducing your meat intake just 1 day a week can have a considerable impact on your health. It increases life expectancy while reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer, obesity and diabetes. Who knew that #OMGardein was so healthy AND delicious all at the same time?! I continue to be impressed by the different products from Gardein!

But wait, it gets better! Did you know that Gardein is also better for the planet? The meat industry produces more greenhouse gases than the entire transportation sector combined. Small steps count and Meatless Mondays are a great way to start! In fact, if every American ate meatless just 1 day per week all year, it would be the equivalent of taking ½ million cars off the road. Can you believe it? It takes the same amount of water to produce a burger as it does to shower for 6 months! 1,799 gallons of water are needed to produce just 1 lb of beef. Conversely, it only takes 52.8 gallons to produce 1 lb of Gardein. (source: Water Foot Print Research Methodology for beef usage).

Here is my recipe for Vegan Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites with Fried Rice – a fun, conveniently easy, and yummy recipe for all to enjoy. Feel free to share, and I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has!

  1. Chop the peppers and onions and heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil on medium to high heat in either a large saute pan or a wok chopped pepper
  2. Add the onion, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 2- 3 minutes until slightly soft. Seasoned Pepper and Onion
  3. Add the frozen peas, and sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until cooked.
  4. While this is cooking, be sure to get the Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites going. I chose to use the stove top cook method per the instructions on the bag. (Super easy!)
  5. Add the cooked rice, garlic powder, soy sauce, water, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté for 7-9 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Let it cool for 2 minutes. Then serve your Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites over the fried rice and enjoy! Gardein Pork

This is a Gardein recipe that knocks it out of the park – super scrumptious, healthy, and pure convenient. I just love it, and I hope you do, too.
