Not all coffee is the same

Coffee is now considered a health food. It has been the drink of choice across the globe for more than a millennia. This superfood has changed the way we look at health, and has even helped shape the development of modern medicine. However, it is only brewed coffee that brings the best benefits. Brewing your own coffee means that you know which beans are being used in your drink and you can trace their provenance. You have the total transparency to see exactly what goes into your cup. Instant coffee can be a blend of additives and rejected beans. With instant coffee sales decreasing every year, producers are catching on, and there is more choice out there than ever before, when buying fresh coffee to brew at home.

Coffee recipes for your repertoire

Not only can you drink coffee for health, but you can also add it to cooked dishes. Coffee goes wonderfully well with meat, especially steak. Simply mix a couple of cups of cold brewed coffee with a cup of low sodium or gluten free soy sauce, add a pinch of chilli flakes, a chopped garlic clove or a teaspoon of garlic powder, and whisk up. Add in your meat to marinade for a few hours, preferably overnight. When it’s time to cook it up, shake off the excess marinade and throw on a grill. You can reduce the remaining marinade in a pan for just a couple of minutes, and add in a small amount of dissolved cornflour to make a delicious sauce to accompany it. Thin the sauce out with water depending on how thick you like it. Serve with some steamed vegetables and enjoy.

The thing about coffee is that it tastes so good. For too long this gave the illusion that it wasn’t great for health. But the way we eat has been changing. There are more recipes now than ever before, that utilize foods that are fabulous for health and taste amazing. Now that it’s been demonstrated beyond doubt that coffee is beneficial to health, you can enjoy the warm feeling a delicious brewed cup does for you every day, knowing that its giving you a world of good.

I like to support the locally run donut shops. Some are pretty good, some could up their game on a few things. I”ve got a harsh criticism for a couple of them though, but I”m not going to call them out by name and shame them, they know who they are. COFFEE. COFFEE! Even one the fan favorites here on Claycord, nice shop, good donuts, HORRIBLE coffee! It”s 2018. There is no reason ANYONE should be serving coffee that”s not at least PDG. (pretty damn good). McDonald”s, Nation”s, MOST GAS STATIONS, now serve coffee that”s not mind-blowing, but PDG. If Dunkin” Donuts lives up to the hype with their coffee, my beloved local shops better watch out, I can only drink so much of their “waiting to get tires mounted free coffee in the waiting room coffee.
